Description: Manages Ethernet Protection Switching Ring (EPSR) topology, ring health, and failover state on Allied Telesis switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AT-EPSR-MIB?
AT-EPSR-MIB is an Allied Telesis vendor-private MIB for EPSR (Ethernet Protection Switching Ring), a ring-topology Layer 2 protection mechanism similar in purpose to spanning tree but purpose-built for ring networks on Allied Telesis switches. Its epsrEventVariablesTable, indexed by epsrDomainName, records per-EPSR-domain state transitions using the EpsrNodeState textual convention (idle, complete, failed, linksUp, linksDown, preForward), the associated epsrControlVlanId, and the primary/secondary ring interfaces along with their EpsrInterfaceState (blocked/forward), letting multiple EPSR domains on the same switch be tracked independently. The epsrNodeTrap notification fires on master/transit node state transitions, carrying the domain name, from/to states, control VLAN, and both ring interfaces' index and state, which is useful for detecting ring breaks, unexpected forwarding-state changes, or a stuck blocked/failed interface that would leave the ring without protection. It depends on IF-MIB's InterfaceIndex for identifying the primary/secondary ring ports, and is deployed on Allied Telesis switches configured in EPSR master or transit roles, and administrators can download the AT-EPSR-MIB file to monitor ring health via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-EPSR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Allied Telesis managed switches (EPSR-capable)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls epsrPrimaryIfState and epsrSecondaryIfState for a given epsrDomainName to confirm one ring port is correctly blocked and the other forwarding under normal conditions, and watches for epsrNodeTrap notifications reporting a transition to failed or linksDown; a domain stuck in the failed state would indicate the ring has broken and traffic is no longer protected.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-EPSR-domain node state (idle/complete/failed/linksUp/linksDown)
- primary/secondary ring interface forwarding/blocked state
- control VLAN identifier per domain
- master/transit node state-transition traps
