Category: Device Management, Hardware and Environment, Vendor: Allied Telesis
Description: Monitors Allied Telesis modular chassis hardware, including slot occupancy, backplane status, and power budget.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AT-CHASSIS-MIB?
AT-CHASSIS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Allied Telesis for its modular, chassis-based switch and router product families. It exposes hardware inventory and status objects for chassis slots, line/interface cards, the backplane, and system power budget, along with trap notifications for chassis-level events. Its primary monitoring value is hardware health: administrators use it to confirm slot occupancy (which card types are inserted where), detect card insertion/removal or failure events, and watch power budget/backplane status to catch a supply shortfall or backplane fault before it takes down line cards. It typically works alongside Allied Telesis's ENTITY-MIB-style inventory objects and standard trap conventions rather than replacing them outright. It is deployed on Allied Telesis modular chassis switches used as core/aggregation devices in enterprise and campus networks. Engineers can download the AT-CHASSIS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-CHASSIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Allied Telesis modular chassis switch/router
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the chassis slot/card status table to confirm every populated slot reports a healthy card-present and operational state, and subscribe to the chassis traps to be alerted the instant a card is removed, inserted, or a power-budget threshold is exceeded. A trap indicating a slot transitioning from "card present/ok" to a fault state would flag a failed or improperly seated line card needing replacement.
What Can Be Monitored
- chassis slot occupancy
- line/interface card status
- backplane status
- power budget/power supply status
- chassis insertion/removal traps
