Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: Askey

Description: Provides hardware inventory, board version, and component status for Askey DSLAM equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASKEY-HARDWARE-INFORMATION-MIB?

ASKEY-HARDWARE-INFORMATION-MIB is Askey's enterprise MIB for hardware inventory and environmental sensor monitoring on Askey DSLAM/broadband access equipment, covering network cards, line cards, and fan modules. It exposes a hardware-info table keyed by sensor ID, with sensor description, current value, reference value, and low/high threshold objects, alongside dedicated temperature sensor threshold objects. Its core purpose is hardware health monitoring: it lets an operator track fan and line-card sensor readings (e.g. temperature) against configured high/low thresholds to catch overheating or component degradation before it causes an outage. It is a self-contained vendor-private MIB not explicitly built on a standard sensor MIB, though its structure resembles typical hardware/environmental table conventions used elsewhere. It is typically deployed on Askey DSLAM chassis in broadband access networks where operators need SNMP-based environmental/hardware monitoring of cards and fans. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ASKEY-HARDWARE-INFORMATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASKEY-HARDWARE-INFORMATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Askey DSLAM/broadband access chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk askeyHwInfoTable/askeyHwInfoEntry, using askeyHwSensorId and askeyHwSensorDescription to identify each sensor (e.g. a fan or line-card temperature sensor), then compare askeyHwValue against askeyHwValueThreshholdHigh/Low and askeyHwRefValue. If askeyHwValue for a fan-related sensor exceeds sensorTempHigh, that signals overheating in the chassis, likely due to fan failure or blocked airflow, warranting immediate attention. This gives early warning of thermal or hardware degradation on the DSLAM before service is affected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • sensor value (temperature/hardware)
  • sensor reference value
  • high/low threshold
  • sensor identity/description
  • fan module status
  • line card hardware status
