Category: RADIUS and AAA, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent

Description: Manages RADIUS authentication and accounting server configuration on Ascend access equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-RADIUS-MIB?

ASCEND-RADIUS-MIB is a legacy Ascend Communications (later Lucent) proprietary MIB (built on ASCEND-MIB) reporting RADIUS authentication/accounting server statistics. Its objects cover the configured number of authentication/accounting servers, an authentication-stats table (server index, login/other requests sent, requests timed out, responses received, unexpected/bad/ack responses received, host IP address, current-server flag), and a companion accounting-stats table (requests sent/timed-out, responses received, unexpected responses, host IP, current-server flag). As a performance MIB it lets an administrator watch RADIUS request/response success and timeout rates per server on a legacy Ascend (Lucent) WAN access device. It is deployed on legacy Ascend Communications (Lucent) WAN access equipment. Engineers can download the ASCEND-RADIUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-RADIUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Legacy Ascend Communications (Lucent) WAN access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks radAuthRqstTimedOut and radAuthCurrentServerFlag to identify a failing RADIUS authentication server on a legacy Ascend (Lucent) device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS authentication/accounting request success and timeout rates
