Description: Monitors power supply status and redundancy for Ascend modular access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-POWER-SUPPLY-MIB?
ASCEND-POWER-SUPPLY-MIB is an Ascend Communications (later part of Lucent) proprietary MIB for monitoring power supply status and redundancy on Ascend modular access/remote-access equipment such as dial-up and WAN access concentrators. It exposes objects reporting the presence, operational state, and redundancy configuration of individual power supply modules installed in a chassis. This MIB is directly focused on hardware status monitoring: it lets an administrator confirm whether each power supply unit is present and functioning normally, detect a failed or missing power module, and verify that redundant power supply configurations are providing the intended failover protection, which is critical for avoiding an unplanned outage of a modular access chassis. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no significant dependency on other standard MIBs. It was typically deployed on Ascend MAX/TNT-series modular remote access concentrators in ISP and enterprise dial-up/WAN access environments, where ASCEND-POWER-SUPPLY-MIB SNMP monitoring gave administrators early warning of a failing or missing power module.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-POWER-SUPPLY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend MAX/TNT-series modular remote access concentrator
Monitoring Examples
Since no sample_objects were provided for this MIB, exact object names cannot be grounded from source data, but consistent with its description an administrator would poll a power supply status table to check the operational state of each installed power module in an Ascend chassis. A power supply reporting a failed or absent state while the chassis is configured for redundant power would reveal a degraded power configuration requiring immediate module replacement. This MIB is purely a hardware power-health monitoring module.
What Can Be Monitored
- power supply presence
- power supply operational state
- power redundancy configuration/status
