Description: Tracks installed packages and patch levels as part of software inventory management for Acme Packet SBCs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is APSWINVENTORY-MIB?
APSWINVENTORY-MIB is a proprietary Acme Packet SBC module for tracking installed software boot images, configuration versions, and configuration backups on the device. It exposes a boot table describing each bootable software image's type, description, and status, plus objects reporting the currently active and currently running configuration versions, and a table of configuration backup entries. This is a core software-status monitoring module: it lets an operator confirm which software version and configuration are actually running versus what's staged to boot next, and verify that configuration backups are current, which is essential for change management and rollback safety. It is a self-contained proprietary MIB with no significant dependency on standard IETF MIBs, aligning instead with other Acme Packet vendor modules (license, syslog) in the same product line. It is deployed on Acme Packet SBCs wherever software version and configuration-state tracking is needed for upgrade or audit purposes. Engineers can download the APSWINVENTORY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APSWINVENTORY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Acme Packet Session Border Controller (SBC)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll apSwBootTable, indexed by apSwBootIndex, reading apSwBootDescr, apSwBootType, and apSwBootStatus to see which software images are installed and their boot readiness. Comparing apSwCfgCurrentVersion against apSwCfgRunningVersion reveals whether a configuration change is pending a reload, while apSwCfgBackupTable entries (apSwCfgBackupIndex, apSwCfgBackupName) confirm recent configuration backups exist. A mismatch between apSwCfgCurrentVersion and apSwCfgRunningVersion signals an unapplied configuration change awaiting restart.
What Can Be Monitored
- installed boot image status
- current vs. running configuration version
- configuration backup inventory
- boot image type and description
