Category: VPN and Security, Vendor: Altiga
Description: Altiga (Cisco VPN 3000) HTTP statistics MIB for monitoring WebVPN HTTP proxy sessions and traffic volumes.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALTIGA-HTTP-STATS-MIB?
ALTIGA-HTTP-STATS-MIB originates from Altiga Networks, whose VPN concentrator technology became the Cisco VPN 3000 series, and it provides statistics for the device's HTTP proxy/WebVPN functionality used for clientless SSL VPN access. It exposes performance counters such as octets and packets sent/received, and connection/session counts including active, maximum, and cumulative totals, plus a per-session detail table. Its monitoring value is centered on performance and load monitoring of the software HTTP proxy service -- showing whether the concentrator is approaching session or connection limits and how much traffic is flowing through WebVPN -- rather than physical hardware sensors. It is a self-contained statistics MIB with no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2 conventions. It is typically deployed on Cisco VPN 3000 concentrators (and their Altiga-branded predecessors) supporting remote-access SSL VPN users. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ALTIGA-HTTP-STATS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALTIGA-HTTP-STATS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco VPN 3000 Series Concentrator (formerly Altiga Networks)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll alHttpStatsActiveConnections and alHttpStatsActiveSessions against alHttpStatsMaxConnections/alHttpStatsMaxSessions to see how close the concentrator is to its licensed or configured capacity, and would track alHttpStatsOctetsSent/alHttpStatsOctetsRcvd for traffic trending. A sudden plateau of alHttpStatsActiveSessions at alHttpStatsMaxSessions would explain new WebVPN logins being refused, and alHttpStatsSessionTable/alHttpStatsSessionEntry could be inspected for per-session detail to identify which sessions are consuming resources.
What Can Be Monitored
- active HTTP/WebVPN connections
- active WebVPN sessions
- maximum connections/sessions capacity
- total octets and packets sent/received
- cumulative connection and session totals
- per-session HTTP statistics
