Description: The duration of the Register Suppression Timer. This is the period during which a PIM Designated Router (DR) stops sending Register-encapsulated data to the Rendezvous Point (RP) after receiving a Register-Stop message. This object is used to run timers both at the DR and at the RP. This timer period is called the Register_Suppression_Time in the PIM-SM specification.

The storage type of this object is determined by alaPimDeviceConfigStorageType.

What is alaPimRegisterSuppressionTime?

Sets the duration of the PIM Register Suppression Timer, which controls how long a Designated Router (DR) waits before resuming Register-encapsulated data toward the Rendezvous Point (RP) after receiving a Register-Stop message. This prevents the DR from flooding the RP with native multicast traffic that the RP has already signaled it does not need.
