Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch IP multicast switching MIB for hardware-based multicast forwarding and switching configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALCATEL-IND1-IPMS-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-IPMS-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch proprietary MIB for IP Multicast Switching (IPMS), managing hardware-accelerated IGMP/multicast forwarding on the switch. It exposes multicast configuration and operational data -- global enable status, IGMP timer parameters (leave timeout, query interval, querier timer, membership timer), querier priority and bandwidth limits, hardware-route enablement, and a group membership table listing active multicast groups. Its monitoring focus is mainly configuration/software state of the multicast switching feature and live group membership, letting operators confirm IGMP snooping/querying is active and see which multicast groups are currently forwarded in hardware versus software. It layers on top of standard IGMP (RFC 3376) concepts, adding Alcatel-specific hardware-routing and proxy-version controls rather than defining a wholly separate protocol. It is typically deployed on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch switches carrying IPTV or other multicast traffic where hardware-accelerated IGMP snooping is required. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ALCATEL-IND1-IPMS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-IPMS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch enterprise switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks alaIpmsStatus to confirm IP multicast switching is enabled, then inspects alaIpmsGroupTable to see which multicast groups are currently registered and whether alaIpmsHardwareRoute shows them being forwarded in hardware. Unexpectedly short membership durations relative to alaIpmsMembershipTimer or alaIpmsLeaveTimeout, or a querier failing to update alaIpmsOtherQuerierTimer, would indicate an IGMP snooping/querier problem affecting multicast delivery.

What Can Be Monitored

  • multicast switching enable status
  • active multicast group membership
  • IGMP query/leave timers
  • querier priority and timers
  • hardware vs software multicast routing
  • max bandwidth configuration
