Description: Declares agent capability for the Cisco IP RAN backhaul management MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that declares which parts of the CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-MIB a given Cisco device implementation actually supports, rather than defining new managed objects itself. It belongs to the mobile backhaul/IP-RAN technology area, where cell site routers carry mobile radio access network traffic over an IP transport network. As a capability statement it exposes no live data of its own; its role is to tell an NMS which variables, tables, and notifications from the referenced MIB are present on a particular software/hardware version. It is therefore not used to directly monitor uptime, temperature, CPU, or fans, but it indirectly supports monitoring by letting management stations correctly interpret and poll the real IP-RAN backhaul objects on the device. This module is deployed alongside CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-MIB on Cisco cell site gateway routers in mobile operator backhaul networks. Engineers can download the CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IP-RAN cell site gateway router
Monitoring Examples
An NMS performing SNMP discovery reads this AGENT-CAPABILITIES module to determine which OBJECT-GROUPs and NOTIFICATION-GROUPs of CISCO-IP-RAN-BACKHAUL-MIB are implemented on a given IOS/IOS-XE image before attempting to poll IP-RAN backhaul link and pseudowire state tables. This prevents the manager from querying unsupported objects and receiving noSuchObject errors during a backhaul link status audit.
What Can Be Monitored
- supported MIB object groups
- supported notification groups
- agent capability version per device release
