All MIBs › AFC-OIDS

Category: SNMP Framework

Description: Defines enterprise OID assignments and product registration objects for AFC (Advanced Fibre Communications) equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AFC-OIDS?

AFC-OIDS is a foundational enterprise MIB module from Advanced Fibre Communications (AFC) that defines the top-level private enterprise OID tree and product branch registrations (afc, afcProducts, umc, umcCommon, umc1000, afcEms). These branches are used by AFC's other MIB modules, notably those for the Universal Media Concentrator (UMC1000) broadband access platform and its EMS. It does not itself define operational data objects; its role is purely structural, establishing the OID namespace that actual monitoring MIBs for AFC hardware build upon. As a pure registration/root module it exposes no monitorable runtime data of its own -- no interface, environmental, or performance counters are defined here. It is deployed only as a supporting/imported module wherever other AFC device MIBs, such as those for the UMC1000 platform, are loaded into a management system. Engineers can download the AFC-OIDS file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AFC-OIDS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Advanced Fibre Communications (AFC) UMC1000 Universal Media Concentrator broadband access platform

Monitoring Examples

This module consists only of OID branch/registration nodes (afc, afcProducts, umc, umcCommon, umc1000, afcEms) with no tables or scalar data objects, so it is honestly a naming/registration module rather than a source of monitoring data. Any actual monitoring would occur through other AFC MIBs that import and register objects under this tree.

RFC description

AFC-OIDS defines Object Identifiers for APC (American Power Conversion) devices and systems. This MIB provides the hierarchical structure for identifying managed objects in APC networking and power management equipment through SNMP.
