Description: Manages alarm conditions and fault notifications on AudioCodes VoIP gateways and session border controllers, covering equipment and service fault events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AC-ALARM-MIB?

AC-ALARM-MIB is AudioCodes' enterprise fault-management module for its VoIP gateways and session border controllers, covering equipment and service alarm conditions. It exposes an active alarm table, an alarm history table, and the varbinds carried in alarm notification traps, giving a structured view of both current and past fault events. This is explicitly a hardware and software fault/status monitoring MIB: it is used to detect equipment faults (e.g., failed components) as well as service-level faults on the media gateway, surfacing them as standardized alarm records rather than raw counters. As an enterprise-specific MIB it builds on the standard SNMP notification framework (SNMPv2-TRAP/NOTIFICATION-TYPE conventions) but does not depend on other vendor MIBs for its core alarm model. It is deployed in telecom and enterprise voice environments where AudioCodes gateways sit at the edge of a SIP trunk or PSTN gateway deployment and need centralized alarm correlation, typically after an AC-ALARM-MIB download to load the module into a MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AC-ALARM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AudioCodes VoIP gateways
  • AudioCodes session border controllers

Monitoring Examples

An operations team would poll the active alarm table to see currently outstanding equipment or service faults on the gateway, then cross-check the alarm history table to determine how long an alarm (such as a trunk-down or hardware fault condition) has been active or how often it recurs. A spike of new entries appearing in the active alarm table combined with acFault-related notification varbinds would indicate a developing hardware or trunk problem requiring escalation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active alarm conditions
  • alarm history records
  • equipment fault status
  • service fault events
  • alarm severity and timestamps
