All MIBs › A4400-RTM-MIB
Category: Device Management, Vendor: 3Com
Description: Manages the Real-Time Monitor (RTM) on the 3Com/USR NetServer 4400, providing WAN connection status and performance metrics for remote access calls.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A4400-RTM-MIB?
This MIB implements the Real-Time Monitor (RTM) for the 3Com/U.S. Robotics NetServer 4400 remote-access platform, a dial-up/WAN access concentrator. It exposes live resource and call-session data: IP domain configuration, conference-resource availability/busy/out-of-order counts, DSP (digital signal processor) resource availability/busy/out-of-service/overrun counts, and call-admission-control (CAC) allowed/used counts. This is a strong hardware-resource and performance monitoring MIB: the DSP and conference-resource counters directly reflect the health and utilization of the device's onboard hardware handling incoming calls, letting an operator detect resource exhaustion, hardware failures (out-of-service DSPs), or overrun conditions before they cause call-setup failures. It shows no strong dependency on external standard MIBs, being a largely self-contained vendor RTM extension. It's deployed on 3Com/USR NetServer 4400 remote-access servers terminating dial-up/WAN connections. Engineers can download the A4400-RTM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A4400-RTM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- 3Com/USR NetServer 4400 remote access server
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll dspRessAvailable against dspRessBusy and dspRessOutOfService to determine whether the device has enough healthy DSP resources to handle incoming call volume, with a rising dspRessOverrun count indicating the box is being overwhelmed. Checking cacUsed against cacAllowed shows how close the system is to its call-admission-control ceiling, while confAvailable/confBusy/confOutOfOrder reveals conference-resource health and capacity for multi-party calls.
What Can Be Monitored
- DSP resource availability/busy/out-of-service/overrun counts
- conference resource availability/busy/out-of-order counts
- call admission control allowed vs used
- IP domain configuration
