Last Updated: 2007-11-19

Category: Device Management, VPN and Security, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages Secure Shell (SSH) server and client configuration on H3C/3Com devices, including algorithm selection, session limits, and authenticated user information.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-SSH-MIB?

This MIB module manages Secure Shell (SSH) and SFTP server configuration on H3C/3Com networking equipment (the joint H3C-Huawei-3Com product line). It exposes primarily configuration data: SSH protocol version compatibility, rekey intervals, authentication retry/timeout settings, and per-user SSH service-type assignments. While mostly configuration rather than hardware telemetry, it does let an operator confirm the operational status of the SSH/SFTP service itself (enabled/disabled) and inspect the table of authenticated SSH users, useful for verifying that secure management access is correctly enabled. It has no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It's typically deployed on H3C/3Com switches and routers to audit and harden remote management access. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-SSH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cSSHServerEnable and h3cSFTPServerEnable to confirm secure management channels are active, and check h3cSSHServerCompatibleSSH1x to ensure the weaker SSH1 protocol has been disabled. Walking h3cSSHUserConfigTable (keyed by h3cSSHUserName) reveals which accounts have SSH access and their h3cSSHUserServiceType, letting an admin spot an unauthorized or misconfigured user entry. Monitoring h3cSSHServerAuthRetries and h3cSSHServerAuthTimeout also helps validate defenses against brute-force login attempts.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SSH/SFTP server enable status
  • SSH protocol version compatibility
  • rekey interval
  • authentication retry count and timeout
  • SFTP idle timeout
  • configured SSH user accounts and service type
