What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-LswMix-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-LswMix-MIB is an H3C/3Com proprietary module that groups miscellaneous system-management objects for LAN switch chassis not covered by other, more specific MIBs, primarily oriented around main processing unit (MPU) redundancy and chassis hardware health. It exposes the last MPU switchover date/time, the number of MPU switchovers that have occurred, the currently active MPU, per-slot board status, and crossbar-fabric status. This is explicitly a hardware-status monitoring MIB: hwLswMainCardBoardStatus and hwLswCrossBarStatus report on the health of main control boards and the switching fabric, while hwLswMpuSwitch and hwLswLastSwitchDate/Time track redundant-MPU failover history, all core chassis-health indicators. Dependency: it complements the standard ENTITY-MIB physical-inventory model with H3C-specific status detail not covered by generic entity tables. Deployment is on modular chassis-based H3C LAN switches with redundant supervisor/MPU modules, typically at the core or distribution layer where hardware redundancy status is operationally significant. Engineers can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-LswMix-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-LswMix-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com modular LAN switch chassis

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hwLswMainCardBoardStatus and hwLswCrossBarStatus across hwLswXSlotTable (indexed per slot) to confirm all main boards and the crossbar fabric report a healthy state, catching a failing board before it triggers an unplanned failover. Watching hwLswMpuSwitchsNum for an unexpected increment, together with a fresh hwLswLastSwitchDate/hwLswLastSwitchTime, would reveal that an MPU failover just occurred, prompting investigation into why the previously active MPU went down.

What Can Be Monitored

  • main control board status
  • crossbar switching fabric status
  • MPU (main processing unit) switchover count
  • last MPU switchover date/time
  • active MPU identity
