Category: Device Management, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: Manages H3C Group Management Protocol (HGMP) cluster membership, topology, and remote device control.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB?
A3COM-HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB is a jointly-branded 3Com/H3C (formerly Huawei-3Com) proprietary MIB implementing the HGMP (Huawei Group Management Protocol), a cluster-management protocol used on LAN switch products to let one management device administer a cluster of neighboring switches as if they were a single unit. It is expected to expose cluster topology, membership, and remote-device-control configuration, though no concrete object list is available in this batch to confirm specific table names. Where implemented, such MIBs typically support monitoring of cluster member reachability and management-device role/status, giving visibility into whether clustered switches remain under central management control. It depends on the vendor's underlying HGMP protocol rather than any IETF standard, and is not portable outside 3Com/H3C/Huawei switch lines of that era. It is deployed in enterprise LAN environments where 3Com/H3C switches are organized into management clusters for simplified administration. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- 3Com/H3C/Huawei-3Com LAN switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were available for this module, so a concrete polling scenario cannot be grounded in real object names; in general, an HGMP MIB implementation would be polled to confirm which switches are current cluster members and whether the management/commander switch retains connectivity to each member switch.
