Category: ZyXEL System and Hardware Management

Description: Manages ZyXEL physical port settings including speed, duplex, flow control, and administrative state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-PORT-MIB?

ZYXEL-PORT-MIB is a ZyXEL private enterprise MIB managing physical port-level settings on ZyXEL switches. It exposes per-port configuration such as speed, duplex mode, flow control, and administrative (enable/disable) state. This is directly useful for hardware status monitoring: an operator can poll per-port operational speed/duplex and admin/oper status to detect ports running below expected speed, in half-duplex when full is expected, or administratively/operationally down, all signs of cabling, NIC, or configuration problems. It complements the standard IF-MIB ifTable objects (ifSpeed, ifOperStatus) with ZyXEL-specific port controls like flow control. It is deployed on any ZyXEL managed switch where an NMS polls per-port link parameters, making ZYXEL-PORT-MIB SNMP monitoring a routine part of interface health checks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-PORT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No object/table names were present in the sampled data. Based on the module description ("the subtree for port"), the module would expose per-port speed, duplex, flow-control, and administrative-state objects that an administrator polls to detect ports negotiated at an unexpected speed/duplex or administratively disabled ports that should be active.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port speed
  • duplex mode
  • flow control setting
  • administrative status
  • operational port state
