Description: Select The speed and the duplex mode of the Ethernet connection on this port. Selecting Auto (auto-negotiation) allows one port to negotiate with a peer port automatically to obtain the connection speed and duplex mode that both ends support. When auto-negotiation is turned on, a port on the Switch negotiates with the peer automatically to determine the connection speed and duplex mode. If the peer port does not support auto-negotiation or turns off this feature, the Switch determines the connection speed by detecting the signal on the cable and using half duplex mode. Thus requiring you to make sure that the settings of the peer port are the same in order to connect.
What is zyPortSpeedDuplex?
This read-write setting selects the speed and duplex mode for an Ethernet switch port, choosing among options like auto-negotiation, or fixed speeds from 10 Mbps up to 40 Gbps in half or full duplex. Leaving it on auto lets the port negotiate speed and duplex automatically with its link partner, but if the peer doesn't support or has disabled auto-negotiation, the switch falls back to detecting speed by signal and defaulting to half duplex, so both ends must be set to match manually. For example, an admin troubleshooting a duplex mismatch might force this to speed100Full on both the switch port and the connected device instead of leaving either side on auto.
