Description: Manages ZyXEL Link Aggregation Groups for configuring LACP trunks and static port channel bundles.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-LAG-MIB?

ZYXEL-LAG-MIB is a ZyXEL enterprise MIB covering the subtree for Link Aggregation Groups, the feature that bundles multiple physical Ethernet ports into one logical trunk using LACP (dynamic) or static configuration for higher bandwidth and link redundancy. It exposes configuration for LAG group membership and mode (static/LACP), plus operational data on which member ports are currently active within each aggregate. This gives it direct hardware/link status monitoring value: administrators can check whether all expected member links of a LAG are up and aggregated, since a member port failure reduces available bandwidth in a way that may not be obvious from a single-interface view. It relies on the IEEE 802.3ad/802.1AX link aggregation model and the device's IF-MIB interface table for individual member port status. It is deployed on ZyXEL switches wherever uplinks between switches, or to servers/firewalls, require higher throughput and resiliency than a single physical link provides, with status visible through the ZYXEL-LAG-MIB MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-LAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, but a LAG MIB of this kind typically defines a LAG group table and a LAG member-port table showing which physical ports are bundled into each logical trunk and their individual active/inactive status. An administrator would poll the member table to confirm all expected ports are actively aggregated; a port unexpectedly reporting inactive would indicate a cable, transceiver, or LACP negotiation fault reducing the LAG's total capacity.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LAG group membership
  • LAG mode (static/LACP)
  • per-member port aggregation status
  • active vs. configured member port count
