Category: ZyXEL Security and Access Control

Description: Manages ZyXEL IPv6 snooping for tracking IPv6 host bindings and securing IPv6 access networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-IPV6-SNOOPING-MIB?

ZYXEL-IPV6-SNOOPING-MIB is a ZyXEL Enterprise Solution proprietary MIB (extending the standard P-BRIDGE-MIB) implementing IPv6 snooping — inspecting IPv6 ND/DHCPv6 traffic to build a trusted binding table, analogous to IPv4 DHCP snooping. Its policy table, keyed by name, records which protocol is snooped, whether prefix gleaning is enabled, and a per-policy address-count limit, while an interface-mapping table attaches a named policy to a specific port. As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which interfaces have an IPv6 snooping policy attached and its address-count limit, useful for preventing IPv6 neighbor-table exhaustion attacks. It is deployed on ZyXEL Enterprise Solution managed switches. Engineers can download the ZYXEL-IPV6-SNOOPING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-IPV6-SNOOPING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL Enterprise Solution managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks zyIpv6SnoopingPolicyLimitAddressCount on an access port to confirm a reasonable cap is in place before relying on IPv6 snooping to prevent binding-table exhaustion from a misbehaving host.

What Can Be Monitored
