Category: ZyXEL Security and Access Control

Description: Manages ZyXEL anti-ARP scanning protection to detect and block ARP scan attacks on switch ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZYXEL-ANTI-ARPSCAN-MIB?

ZYXEL-ANTI-ARPSCAN-MIB is a ZyXEL private module for the anti-ARP-scan security feature on ZyXEL switches, which detects and blocks hosts performing ARP scanning (a common network reconnaissance/attack precursor) on switch ports. It exposes configuration objects for enabling the feature and setting detection thresholds, along with status/action data identifying ports where scanning has been detected and blocked. Its monitoring value lies in the software status of this security feature: an administrator can check whether anti-ARP-scan protection is enabled per port and see which ports have triggered a block action, which is a direct fault/security-event indicator for the switch. It relates to standard ARP and bridge-port MIBs since detection is applied per switch port/interface. It is deployed on ZyXEL access-layer switches in environments where ARP-scan-based reconnaissance or attacks need to be automatically detected and mitigated, making ZYXEL-ANTI-ARPSCAN-MIB SNMP monitoring a key part of access-layer security auditing.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-ANTI-ARPSCAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZyXEL managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific object names cannot be cited; conceptually, an administrator would poll per-port anti-ARP-scan enable status and blocked-host/action state to confirm the feature is active where expected. A port showing an active block action would reveal a host on that port is generating abnormal ARP scan traffic, indicating a possible compromised or misbehaving device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • anti-ARP-scan enable status per port
  • detection threshold configuration
  • blocked host/port status
