Description: Monitors ZTE ZXR10 chassis rack configuration, slot occupancy, card presence, and physical inventory.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZXR10-RACK-MIB?

ZXR10-RACK-MIB is a ZTE proprietary MIB for the ZXR10 T8000 chassis-based switch/router platform, defining objects for physical chassis (shelf) inventory, slot occupancy, card presence, and shelf-level status. Its data falls into the hardware inventory/status and configuration categories, describing the physical makeup of a modular chassis rather than traffic or protocol behavior. This makes it directly useful for monitoring hardware status: detecting whether a shelf or card slot is present and available, which shelf is acting as master/standby in a redundant chassis, and tracking installation location and naming for physical asset management. It is a self-contained vendor MIB without an apparent dependency on external IETF entity/chassis MIBs, though it serves a role similar to the standard ENTITY-MIB's physical inventory concept. It is typically deployed on large modular ZXR10 chassis systems in core/aggregation network sites where slot and shelf redundancy must be tracked, and administrators can download the ZXR10-RACK-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for chassis inventory monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXR10-RACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 T8000 chassis switch/router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll zxr10ShelfTable/zxr10ShelfEntry, indexed by zxr10ShelfNo, to check zxr10ShelfAvailStatus and zxr10ShelfMasterStatus for each shelf, confirming that the expected shelf is active as master and that no shelf has dropped to an unavailable state. Fields like zxr10ShelfSlotNumber, zxr10ShelfType, and zxr10ShelfName let an operator correlate a reported hardware fault with a specific physical slot and card type, while zxr10ShelfTimeStamp indicates when the shelf's status was last updated. A shelf unexpectedly reporting a non-master status when it should be primary would flag a chassis redundancy failover event worth investigating.

What Can Be Monitored

  • shelf/slot availability status
  • shelf master/standby status
  • slot number and card type
  • shelf name and physical location
  • shelf status timestamp
