What Is XYLAN-FWCONF-MIB?
XYLAN-FWCONF-MIB is a legacy Xylan Corporation (later Alcatel) proprietary MIB configuring the OmniSwitch's built-in firewall module. Its objects cover firewall status (enabled/disabled), mode, primary/backup firewall-server address, and primary/backup password. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm whether the firewall module is active and which primary/backup server it is configured against. It is deployed on Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment. Engineers can download the XYLAN-FWCONF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLAN-FWCONF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- firewall module status and server configuration
Supported Devices
- Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks xylanFwStatus and xylanFwPrimaryAddr to confirm the firewall module is active and pointed at the correct server on a Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch.
OIDs
| OID symbolic | OID numeric | Type | Access | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| xylanFwConfig | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1 | |||
| INT xylanFwStatus | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.1 | INTEGER | read-write | This variable displays the current status of the firewall module. The value 'enabled' denotes that the Firewall is active; 'disabled' disables the firewall module. |
| INT xylanFwMode | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.2 | INTEGER | read-write | The default switch interface mode. If neither the Primary manager nor the secondary manager can be reached, this value dictates how packets are handled. The value 'blocked' indicates that all packets are blocked and the value 'open' indicates that all packets are allowed. |
| IP xylanFwPrimaryAddr | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.3 | IpAddress | read-write | The Primary manager's IP address. |
| STR xylanFwPrimaryPassword | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.4 | DisplayString | read-write | The Primary manager's skey password. When read, xylanFwPrimaryPassword always returns an Octet String of length zero. |
| IP xylanFwBackupAddr | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.5 | IpAddress | read-write | The Backup manager's IP address. |
| STR xylanFwBackupPassword | 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.12.1.6 | DisplayString | read-write | The Backup manager's skey password. When read, xylanFwBackupPassword always returns an Octet String of length zero. |
