What Is XEDIA-FRAME-RELAY-MIB?

XEDIA-FRAME-RELAY-MIB is a Xedia Corporation enterprise extension MIB that supplements the standard IETF Frame Relay MIBs with additional objects for managing Frame Relay PVCs on Xedia routers/access devices. It exposes configuration and status data including an ARP-to-DLCI mapping table (resolving network addresses to Frame Relay DLCIs and their underlying interface stack) and a circuit table describing Frame Relay circuit type and attributes. This MIB is used to monitor the software/protocol-layer status of Frame Relay connectivity -- specifically whether DLCI-to-address mappings are correctly established and whether configured circuits are active -- serving as a WAN-link health and configuration check rather than a physical hardware sensor MIB. It explicitly depends on and extends the IETF Frame Relay MIBs (e.g. RFC 1315/2115-family FRAME-RELAY-DTE-MIB), reusing their DLCI and circuit concepts. It is typically deployed in legacy WAN environments where Xedia routers terminate Frame Relay PVCs to remote sites, making XEDIA-FRAME-RELAY-MIB SNMP monitoring useful for confirming DLCI mappings and circuit status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEDIA-FRAME-RELAY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Xedia Corporation routers/WAN access devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll xfrArpTable (via xfrArpEntry rows) to confirm that a given xfrArpNetAddress correctly resolves to the expected xfrArpDlci and interface via xfrArpIfStack, revealing address resolution failures over a Frame Relay PVC. Checking xFrCircuitTable/xFrCircuitEntry for xfrCircuitType would confirm whether a specific circuit is provisioned as expected; a missing or stale ARP entry alongside an otherwise-up circuit typically points to a misconfigured remote DLCI or a broken PVC.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DLCI-to-address ARP mappings
  • Frame Relay circuit type
  • interface stack association
  • PVC/circuit configuration status
