wfOspfIfType

Module: Wellfleet-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-OSPF-MIB::wfOspfIfType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.2.3.5.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: 'The OSPF interface type.

By way of a default, this field may be intuited from the corresponding value of ifType. Broadcast LANs, such as Ethernet and IEEE 802.5, take the value 'broadcast'. Medias which allow multiple devices to be connected but don't support a broadcast mechanism, such as X.25, take the value 'nbma'. Point to Point protocols take the value of 'pointtopoint'. Non-fully meshed technologies would take the value of either 'ietf' or 'pmp'. Passive interface take the value of 'passive'. An example topology is a Frame Relay cloud that does not have a PVC between every device on the cloud.

broadcast (1), nbma (2), pointToPoint (3) point to multipoint - proprietary (4) point to multipoint - standard (5) passive (6)

What is wfOspfIfType?

Sets the OSPF network type for this interface: broadcast for Ethernet-like LANs, nbma for multi-access media without native broadcast (e.g. X.25), pointtopoint for point-to-point links, pmp/ietf for non-fully-meshed point-to-multipoint topologies (proprietary or IETF-standard), or passive to suppress adjacency formation entirely. Admins commonly set this to pmp or ietf on a Frame Relay hub-and-spoke cloud that lacks a full mesh of PVCs, or passive on a stub LAN with no other OSPF routers.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.2.3.5.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-OSPF-MIB::wfOspfIfType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.2.3.5.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-OSPF-MIB::wfOspfIfType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.2.3.5.1.7.1 i <value>
