What Is WS-INFRA-SMI-MIB?
WS-INFRA-SMI-MIB is Symbol Technologies' Structure of Management Information (SMI) module for its wireless infrastructure product line, establishing the OID registration tree beneath which Symbol's wireless access point and controller MIBs are organized. As a pure SMI/root module it defines no runtime OBJECT-TYPE instances of its own -- no interface counters, radio statistics, or environmental sensors -- serving only as organizational scaffolding for other Symbol wireless MIBs. It therefore cannot be used directly to monitor hardware or software status; that data is exposed by the specific wireless infrastructure MIBs (e.g., AP radio, WLAN controller) registered under this tree. Those dependent modules rely on this SMI purely for consistent OID placement within Symbol's enterprise branch. It would only be imported by MIB tooling, not polled directly against a live Symbol wireless access point or controller, and administrators occasionally need to trace a specific WS-INFRA-SMI-MIB OID to confirm where a dependent AP or controller module attaches within that branch.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WS-INFRA-SMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Symbol Technologies wireless access point/controller (root registration only)
Monitoring Examples
WS-INFRA-SMI-MIB defines only the SMI/OID registration structure for Symbol's wireless infrastructure line, with no sample objects provided and no OBJECT-TYPE instances of its own, so there is no direct monitoring scenario -- actual wireless AP/controller telemetry is exposed by the Symbol MIBs registered beneath this tree.
