Description: The gtFanUptime entity represents the current uptime of a cooling fan within the GT01/GN50 rack unit.

What is gtFanUptime?

gtFanUptime reports the current uptime, in seconds, of a specific cooling fan within the WISI GT01/GN50 rack unit. Admins use this to see how long the fan has been running continuously since it was last powered on or replaced, useful when correlating a recent fan replacement with its expected runtime. For example, a gtFanUptime of 3600 would tell an admin that particular fan has been running for one hour since its last start.

Start monitoring WISI GT-series cable/broadcast headend equipment (temperature/voltage-current/fan-RPM status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the WISI-GTSENSORS-MIB::gtFanUptime OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any WISI GT-series cable/broadcast headend equipment (temperature/voltage-current/fan-RPM status) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a WISI GT-series cable/broadcast headend equipment (temperature/voltage-current/fan-RPM status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type gtFanUptime into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The gtFanUptime entity represents the current uptime of a cooling fan within the GT01/GN50 rack unit. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is unexpectedly low (e.g. under 10 minutes), since that indicates a recent, possibly unplanned, reboot or restart. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
