vplsNotificationMaxRate

Module: VPLS-DRAFT-00-MIB

OID (symbolic): VPLS-DRAFT-00-MIB::vplsNotificationMaxRate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.0.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates the maximum number of notifications issued per second. If events occur more rapidly, the implementation may simply fail to emit these notifications during that period, or may queue them until an appropriate time. A value of 0 means no throttling is applied and events may be notified at the rate at which they occur.

What is vplsNotificationMaxRate?

This object sets the maximum number of VPLS notifications the device will emit per second, with 0 meaning no throttling is applied and events are reported as fast as they occur. Admins raise this limit to throttle notification storms during widespread events, though excess notifications during that period may be dropped or queued rather than sent immediately. For example, setting vplsNotificationMaxRate to 10 caps VPLS trap emission at 10 per second even if many VPLS instances change status simultaneously during a network-wide event.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.0.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> VPLS-DRAFT-00-MIB::vplsNotificationMaxRate

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.0.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> VPLS-DRAFT-00-MIB::vplsNotificationMaxRate.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.0.1.5.1 i <value>
