Description: Manages VERITAS CommandCentral storage resource discovery, provisioning, and health monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is VERITAS-COMMAND-CENTRAL-MIB?

VERITAS-COMMAND-CENTRAL-MIB is a Veritas (Symantec/now part of various storage vendors) proprietary MIB for CommandCentral, a storage resource management (SRM) suite that discovers, provisions, and monitors heterogeneous SAN/NAS storage infrastructure. As a management application MIB, it would expose discovered storage resource inventory, provisioning task status, and health/alert state aggregated from managed storage arrays, switches, and hosts rather than physical device sensors itself. Its role in monitoring hardware/software status is indirect but central: it acts as an aggregation point reporting the health and utilization of the storage resources CommandCentral manages, alongside the software status of the CommandCentral server/agents themselves. It depends on data collected from underlying storage-vendor SNMP agents and proprietary APIs that CommandCentral polls, effectively acting as a manager-of-managers. It was deployed in enterprise data centers as part of Veritas/Symantec's storage management software stack overseeing SAN environments. Engineers can download the VERITAS-COMMAND-CENTRAL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VERITAS-COMMAND-CENTRAL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Veritas CommandCentral storage management server
  • managed SAN/NAS storage arrays and switches

Monitoring Examples

Only the generic IMPORTS clause was present in the source material for this MIB, so no concrete object or table names are available to describe a specific polling scenario; based on its stated purpose, an administrator would typically query CommandCentral's discovered-resource and provisioning-status objects to confirm a storage array or LUN provisioning task completed successfully and to check aggregated health alerts across the managed SAN.
