Category: VERITAS Storage Management
Description: Defines textual conventions and enumerated types used across VERITAS Software MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is VERITAS-TC?
This is a private TEXTUAL-CONVENTION module published by VERITAS Software, defining shared enumerated types and reusable data-type conventions used across VERITAS' family of SNMP MIBs (such as those for storage/cluster management software like Veritas Cluster Server or NetBackup). It contains no monitorable objects itself; instead it standardizes types like status codes, severity levels, or naming conventions that other VERITAS MIBs import and build upon. Because it defines no OIDs with actual runtime values, it has no direct role in reporting uptime, CPU load, or hardware health -- that data lives in the VERITAS MIBs that import these textual conventions. Every VERITAS product-specific MIB that imports from VERITAS-TC depends on this module for consistent type definitions. It is used purely as a compile-time dependency when building or parsing other VERITAS MIBs, not queried directly by network management tools. Engineers can download the VERITAS-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VERITAS-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral within VERITAS product line -- applies to servers running VERITAS Software (storage/cluster management) products, not a specific hardware device
Monitoring Examples
VERITAS-TC defines no pollable objects of its own -- it only supplies TEXTUAL CONVENTION type definitions (e.g., shared status/severity enumerations) that other VERITAS MIBs reference. A management application would never query this MIB directly; it would only affect how values in dependent VERITAS MIBs are decoded and displayed. There is no realistic monitoring scenario for this module in isolation.
