What Is VERAX-MIB?
VERAX-MIB is the base enterprise MIB module published by Verax Systems, the vendor of the Verax NMS network management platform, and it serves primarily as the root registration point under which more specific Verax product and agent-capability MIBs are defined. On its own it does not expose interface, environmental, performance, or fault data -- it establishes the enterprise OID arc and any shared textual conventions that other Verax MIB modules build on. Because no runtime objects are defined in this module, it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status itself; that responsibility falls to the more specific Verax MIBs registered beneath it. Its only dependency relationship is structural: subsequent Verax MIB modules import definitions from, or register under, this base module. It is typically encountered in a MIB repository or SNMP toolchain as a prerequisite load before other Verax-specific MIBs can be compiled or used. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the VERAX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VERAX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Verax Systems NMS platform components
- vendor-neutral structural MIB, not tied to a specific hardware device
Monitoring Examples
VERAX-MIB defines no sample data objects, tables, or counters of its own; it is a structural/registration module rather than a source of monitoring data. Its role is limited to establishing the enterprise OID subtree (e.g., the Verax private enterprise number) that other Verax product MIBs register under. A MIB management tool would load this module first to resolve OID prefixes before compiling the actual Verax monitoring MIBs that define real objects.
