Category: Host and System Monitoring
Description: Monitors Vigintos Elektronika host system hardware sensors, power, and environmental parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is VEL-HOST2-MIB?
This is the vendor MIB for Vigintos Elektronika's "Host Controller 2," an embedded controller product used to manage attached field devices. It exposes device identity and firmware/loader version information, plus tables of attached device attributes, text values, events, parameters, quantities, and commands. For monitoring purposes it reports software status through host2Version/host2LoaderVersion (confirming firmware/bootloader levels) and hardware/operational status of attached devices through host2DevEvtTable (an event/fault log) and host2DevParTable/host2DevQntTable (parameter and quantitative sensor readings). It is a standalone enterprise MIB with no explicit dependency on IETF standard MIBs. It is typically deployed on Host Controller 2 units embedded in field equipment that is polled and commanded remotely via SNMP. Engineers can download the VEL-HOST2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VEL-HOST2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Vigintos Elektronika Host Controller 2 devices
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll host2DevAttrTable and host2DevEvtTable to see the attributes of attached devices and their event/fault history, check host2Version and host2LoaderVersion to confirm firmware and bootloader levels match the expected release, and inspect host2DevQntTable for quantitative sensor readings that would reveal an anomaly if a value drifted outside its normal range; host2CmdTable and host2HistoryTable support issuing commands and reviewing past command activity for troubleshooting.
What Can Be Monitored
- device firmware/loader version
- device attributes
- device event log
- device parameters
- device quantitative readings
- command history
