What Is USR-DEFINITIONS-MIB?
USR-DEFINITIONS-MIB provides shared base OID definitions and common data-type structures used across the CommWorks (formerly U.S. Robotics, later 3Com) family of enterprise networking equipment MIBs. It contains no data objects itself; its role is purely to give sibling MIB modules a consistent set of base definitions and OID roots to build functional objects on top of. It therefore has no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status; live status data is defined in the various functional CommWorks/3Com/USR MIBs that import from this module. It is a foundational dependency for the broader CommWorks/USR MIB family. It's deployed with legacy 3Com/USR CommWorks-branded networking and remote-access equipment. Administrators consulting the USR-DEFINITIONS-MIB MIB file typically do so only to trace OID inheritance for other CommWorks modules, not to poll live values.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in USR-DEFINITIONS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- 3Com/USR CommWorks-branded networking and remote-access equipment
Monitoring Examples
This module contains only base/common definitions with no runtime objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; functional CommWorks/USR MIBs that import from it are where actual device status objects reside.

RFC description
U.S. Robotics-private MIB defining base type definitions and enterprise OID registrations.
Start monitoring 3Com/USR CommWorks-branded networking and remote-access equipment (shared base OID definitions, no data objects) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
