Category: Power and Environmental Monitoring

Description: Monitors Unitrends backup appliance job status, alerts, and storage health via SNMP.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UNITRENDS-SNMP?

UNITRENDS-SNMP is the Unitrends proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 21865) for Unitrends Rapid Recovery backup appliances, providing GET and TRAP access to system health information. Its objects report asset ID, hostname, kernel/BIOS/firmware version, total/used/free memory, CPU usage, baseboard identification, network configuration (DHCP mode, IP/MAC/subnet/gateway), manufacture date, software release, and a voltage-probe table monitoring individual voltage rails. As a hardware/software-status MIB it lets an administrator monitor a backup appliance's CPU/memory load and voltage rails as early-warning indicators before a scheduled backup job is affected by a hardware problem. It is deployed on Unitrends Rapid Recovery backup appliances. Engineers can download the UNITRENDS-SNMP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UNITRENDS-SNMP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Unitrends Rapid Recovery backup appliances

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors mgtInfoCpuUsed and mgtInfoMemoryFree on a Unitrends appliance to confirm it has enough headroom before a large scheduled backup job begins.

What Can Be Monitored
