Description: MIB for retrieving and configuring system identity information — hostname, description, location, and contact — on TP-LINK managed switches

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPLINK-SYSINFO-MIB?

TPLINK-SYSINFO-MIB is a TP-Link vendor-specific system-identity MIB for managed switches, exposing basic device identity and status parameters analogous to, and extending, the standard SNMPv2-MIB system group. It covers system identification (hostname, location, contact), hardware and software version, a unique MAC address and serial number, an uptime counter, and a per-port information table. Its monitoring value directly targets device software/hardware status: tpSysInfoUpTime tracks device reboots, tpSysInfoHwVersion and tpSysInfoSwVersion let an administrator confirm firmware/hardware revision consistency across a fleet, and tpSysInfoLed reflects a front-panel health indicator that can flag a hardware issue. It complements the standard SNMPv2-MIB (sysDescr, sysUpTime) with TP-Link-specific extensions rather than replacing it. It's deployed across TP-Link managed switches for basic inventory tracking and health dashboards in small-to-medium enterprise networks. Engineers can download the TPLINK-SYSINFO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-SYSINFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TP-Link managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls tpSysInfoSwVersion and tpSysInfoHwVersion across a stack of switches to verify firmware consistency before a rollout, and monitors tpSysInfoUpTime to detect an unexpected reboot indicating a crash or power event. tpSysInfoSerialNum and tpSysInfoMacAddr are read for asset-inventory reconciliation, while tpSysInfoLed can be checked to correlate a reported hardware fault with the switch's front-panel indicator state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system hostname, location, and contact
  • hardware version
  • software/firmware version
  • device uptime
  • MAC address and serial number
  • front-panel LED status
