This counter tracks the number of octets (bytes) forwarded by the ingress Pchip (packet processor chip) that exceeded the Committed Information Rate (CIR), measured as out-of-profile traffic. Service providers monitor this metric to identify customers exceeding their contracted rates and validate traffic policing behavior. Rising values indicate policy enforcement is dropping or marking excess traffic as intended.
