tApsMcNeighborAddr

Module: TIMETRA-APS-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-APS-MIB::tApsMcNeighborAddr

Type: InetAddress

Access: read-write

Description: The value of tApsMcNeighborAddr variable specifies the neighbor's ip-address only on a Multi-Chassis APS where the working and protect circuits are configured on different routers. The value of tApsMcNeighborAddr set to 0.0.0.0, implies that this APS group is configured as a Single-Chassis APS group.

The route to the neighbor must not traverse the MC-APS member (working or protect) circuits. It is recommended that the address configured here is on a shared network between the routers that own the working and protect circuits. By default no neighbor address is configured and both the working and protect circuits are to be configured on the same router (i.e. Single-Chassis APS).

What is tApsMcNeighborAddr?

This value specifies the neighbor router's IP address for a Multi-Chassis APS group where the working and protect circuits live on different routers; a value of 0.0.0.0, the default, means this is instead a Single-Chassis APS group with both circuits on the same router, and the configured route to the neighbor should avoid traversing the MC-APS member circuits themselves. An admin sets this to establish the signaling link used to coordinate protection switching between the two routers hosting the working and protect circuits in an MC-APS deployment. Setting tApsMcNeighborAddr to a specific address like 10.0.0.2 converts this APS group's configuration from Single-Chassis to Multi-Chassis mode, pointing at that address as the peer router.
