Description: Defines TERRA Electronics structure of management information and enterprise OID assignments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TERRA-SMI?

TERRA-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module for TERRA Electronics, a broadcast/DVB equipment vendor, establishing the enterprise's root OID and sub-branch conventions. Like other SMI modules, it contains no operational data objects, tables, or traps — it is a purely structural/foundational document. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; instead it underlies every other TERRA-* MIB by defining where their object identifiers live in the OID tree. All other TERRA modules (such as TERRA-PRODUCTS-MIB and the SDI streamer MIBs) depend on this module for their enterprise OID placement, making it foundational rather than optional. It is never polled directly by a network management system — only imported by other MIB definitions. Engineers can download the TERRA-SMI file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TERRA-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral structural module underlying TERRA Electronics broadcast/DVB equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects are associated with this module because SMI modules define OID structure, not runtime data (sample_objects is empty here). It is imported by other TERRA-* MIBs to anchor their object identifiers under the TERRA enterprise arc. There is no monitoring scenario to describe since this module carries no pollable state.
