Category: Temperature and Environmental Monitoring

Description: Manages TempAger temperature monitoring and pager alert device sensor readings, thresholds, and alarm notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TEMPAGER-MIB?

TEMPAGER-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module (AVTECH TemPageR product line) for a dedicated environmental monitoring appliance that reads temperature sensors and can trigger pager/alert notifications when thresholds are crossed. It exposes multi-channel temperature readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit along with per-channel alarm threshold settings, making it a pure environmental-sensor MIB rather than one covering interfaces or traffic. Its entire purpose is hardware status monitoring: tempreading1c through tempreading4c (and their Fahrenheit counterparts) report live sensor temperatures, while alarmtemp1 through alarmtemp4 define the alarm thresholds used to flag over-temperature conditions in a monitored room, cabinet, or rack. No dependency on other standard MIBs is evident; it is a small, self-contained enterprise MIB under the avtech/products tree. It is typically deployed in data centers or equipment closets where the TempAgeR unit is polled by an NMS purely for ambient/equipment temperature and alarm-threshold status, independent of any networking hardware it happens to sit near. Engineers can download the TEMPAGER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TEMPAGER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AVTECH TempAgeR temperature monitoring/pager appliance

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll tempreading1c and tempreading1f to get the current temperature from sensor probe 1 in both units, and compare it against alarmtemp1 to determine whether the room has crossed its configured warning threshold. If tempreading3c climbs above alarmtemp3 while the corresponding channel is otherwise idle, that signals a real environmental event (e.g., failed HVAC) rather than a networking fault. Because the device supports up to four independent probes, an NMS dashboard would typically graph all four tempreadingNc channels together to spot a localized hotspot in a rack.

What Can Be Monitored

  • sensor 1-4 temperature in Celsius
  • sensor 1-4 temperature in Fahrenheit
  • sensor 1-4 alarm threshold
  • over-temperature alarm state
