Description: This variable indicates if Protocol Field Compression is used at the local end. Possible values are: (1) yes or (2) no. Once LCP has been negotiated and NCP has been established, the PPP frame protocol field is compressed and a byte is transmitted.

Indicates whether Protocol Field Compression is in use at the local end: yes(1) or no(2). When enabled, the PPP frame's protocol field is compressed to a single byte once NCP is established, saving a small amount of per-frame overhead that matters most on slow serial links.
