This read-create value is the VF_ID of the Virtual Fabric that a given Virtual Switch instance performs its switching function for. Since a single Core Switch can host multiple Virtual Switches, one per Virtual Fabric, setting this associates a specific virtual-switch row with the fabric it belongs to; the Control VF_ID is always implicitly enabled and can't be set here.
