outGenConfigHoldover

Module: SYMMOUTGEN

OID (symbolic): SYMMOUTGEN::outGenConfigHoldover

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9070.1.2.5.2.6.2.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: GENERALOUTGENTYPE

Access: read-write

Description: Output behavior during clock holdover state for the specified port. Values can be on (1), squelch (2), or AIS (3).

What is outGenConfigHoldover?

This value configures how a Symmetricom timing output port behaves while the system clock is in holdover state (maintaining timing based on its last known-good reference after losing external sync), choosing on(2), squelch(1), or AIS(3), as one of four clock-state-specific settings in this output-generation table. A telecom engineer typically leaves this as on(2) since holdover is usually still accurate enough to serve downstream equipment, unlike the less trustworthy free-run state. For example, setting outGenConfigHoldover to on(2) keeps the E1/T1 output active and usable for connected equipment during a brief loss of the external reference.
