What Is START-MIB?

The sample data for START-MIB consists only of generic top-level SMI OID-tree nodes (internet, directory, mgmt, experimental, private, enterprises) plus the standard snmpSetSerialNo object, suggesting this module mostly imports or re-exports base SNMPv2-SMI tree definitions rather than defining substantial device-specific management data of its own. Given the lack of any vendor-specific object names, it appears to be either a minimal/template MIB module or a foundational module used by a specific device to anchor its private enterprise subtree. Its only clear monitoring-relevant object is snmpSetSerialNo, a standard SNMPv2 mechanism for guarding against conflicting concurrent SNMP SET operations rather than hardware or performance telemetry.
