What Is SPINS-DS2-MIB?
SPINS-DS2-MIB is a Lucent Technologies proprietary MIB registered under the softSwitch/spinsDeviceServer branch of Lucent's enterprise tree, intended to manage a SPINS DS2 Device Server component of Lucent's softswitch platform. In the revision available here the module is essentially a skeleton: it declares only the top-level spinsSystem placeholder group under spinsDS2, with a MODULE-IDENTITY whose CONTACT-INFO and DESCRIPTION fields were never filled in and no OBJECT-TYPE definitions populated beneath it. Based on its naming and position in the softswitch/device-server OID hierarchy, it was evidently reserved for future DS2 interface configuration, framing-parameter, and performance-statistics objects, but none of those are present in this build of the module. Because it currently exposes no gettable objects, its practical use today is limited to establishing the OID branch and module identity for the DS2 device-server component within a Lucent softswitch deployment, pending a more complete revision. It depends on the parent softSwitch/spinsDeviceServer branch for its registration point, and administrators load the SPINS-DS2-MIB MIB Browser view of this stub mainly to confirm the module's place in the vendor's MIB tree rather than to poll live data.

Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. An operator loading this module into a MIB browser would find only the spinsSystem OBJECT IDENTIFIER under spinsDS2, with no pollable objects; discovering the branch empty confirms the DS2 device-server management objects for this Lucent softswitch component were never implemented (or shipped) in this MIB revision, rather than indicating any device fault.
