Description: Defines IETF EOS working group row operation extension objects for enhanced table management capabilities.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SNMP-ROWOP-MIB?
SNMP-ROWOP-MIB is a vendor-neutral, standards-based IETF MIB (from the EOS working group) that defines a generic mechanism for performing complex row operations, such as multi-row atomic create/modify/delete actions, on SNMP tables that don't natively support such operations via RowStatus alone. Rather than exposing device hardware or software runtime data, it provides a control/management-layer extension purely for table manipulation semantics. As such it has no monitorable hardware, environmental, or performance data of its own, and instead depends on and augments whatever target MIB tables it's applied to. It is a companion/infrastructure MIB meant to be combined with other MIBs that expose the actual managed tables, rather than something deployed standalone. Its typical use is by SNMP agent/management-station implementers who need to perform coordinated multi-object table edits that plain SNMP SET operations cannot express atomically. Engineers can download the SNMP-ROWOP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNMP-ROWOP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- generic SNMP-managed network device/agent
Monitoring Examples
Because SNMP-ROWOP-MIB is a protocol-extension/conformance-style module for row operations rather than a data-bearing MIB (the batch data confirms it has no sample runtime objects), it doesn't expose objects representing hardware or software status to poll. Instead it is used by management applications performing coordinated, atomic row-level edits across other MIBs' tables. There is no realistic device-health monitoring scenario to describe here since it defines an operational mechanism, not observable state.
