sleRedFaultTimeoutAction

Module: SLE-RED-MIB

OID (symbolic): SLE-RED-MIB::sleRedFaultTimeoutAction

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6296.101.22.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SleRedFaultActionType

Access: read-only

Description: If any software module doesn't respond for healthcheck messages for the certain time, the given action is taken. For 'switchover' action, if the board is active and a standby board is available, 'switchover' is carried out.

If a standby board is not available, just warning message is left. If it is a standby board, 'reset' is carried out.

What is sleRedFaultTimeoutAction?

This object reports the configured action taken when a software module stops responding to healthcheck messages for a set time: switching over to a standby board if the unresponsive module is on the active board and a standby exists, logging a warning if no standby is available, or resetting the board if it's already the standby. Admins use this to understand how the system reacts to a hung or unresponsive software process rather than an outright crash. For example, this being set to 'reset' on a standby board means a hung standby unit will simply reboot rather than trigger any failover.
