Category: SAN and Fibre Channel
Description: Manages SAN fabric topology, zone configuration, and device connectivity via SAN Manager v2.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SANMgrV2-MIB?
SANMgrV2-MIB is a Pathlight Technology vendor MIB for managing SAN Data Gateway devices, covering fabric-facing management functions like device identification, health checks, event logging, and front-panel control. It exposes objects for triggering a health check and reading its resulting value/level, configuring event report levels and trap thresholds, and querying a persistent event log table. Its monitoring value centers on hardware/software status of the SAN gateway: health-check results reveal internal fault conditions, the event log captures a history of operational events, and paIdentify lets an operator flash the front-panel LED to physically locate a specific gateway in a rack. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB without heavy dependency on external standard MIBs beyond generic SNMP conventions. It is deployed on Pathlight (later ADIC/Advanced Digital Information) SAN Data Gateway appliances bridging SCSI/Fibre Channel storage fabrics, and administrators typically open the SANMgrV2-MIB MIB Browser view to inspect these objects directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SANMgrV2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Pathlight/ADIC SAN Data Gateway appliance
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would trigger paHealthCheckValue and paHealthCheckLevel checks to assess the internal health status of the SAN Data Gateway, and review paEventLog/paEventLogEntry entries for a history of logged events at or above the configured paEventLogLevels threshold. paTrapThresholds would be tuned to control which severity of events generates SNMP traps, while paIdentify could be set to flash the gateway's READY light for a set duration to physically locate the unit during a rack audit.
What Can Be Monitored
- health check status/level
- event log entries
- event/trap severity thresholds
- baud rate configuration
- front-panel identify/locate LED
