Description: Defines the root OID structure and base objects for RtBrick cloud-native disaggregated routing software.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RTBRICK-MIB?
RTBRICK-MIB is the top-level enterprise MIB for RtBrick, a vendor of cloud-native, disaggregated network operating system software (BRICK OS) that runs on white-box switching/routing hardware. It defines the root OID tree branches for tables, product identifiers, traps, syslog-derived notifications, and modules, serving as the organizing structure for all RtBrick-specific management data. Rather than exposing metrics directly, it provides the framework under which module-level status, fault traps, and syslog-based notifications are registered, which is how RtBrick surfaces software component health and operational events (e.g., process or protocol module state, syslog-triggered alerts) to an NMS. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise arc for registration and works alongside NOTIFICATION-TYPE conventions for its trap/notification definitions. It is deployed on white-box or disaggregated routing platforms running RtBrick's BRICK OS in data center or service-provider networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RTBRICK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RTBRICK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- RtBrick disaggregated/white-box routers and switches running BRICK OS
Monitoring Examples
A management system would subscribe to notifications under rtbrickTraps and rtbrickSyslogNotifications to be alerted in real time when a BRICK OS software module reports an error or a syslog-worthy event occurs, and would browse rtbrickModules to see which software components (e.g., routing daemons) are active on the box. An unexpected trap firing under rtbrickTraps combined with a module disappearing from rtbrickModules would indicate a software process crash or restart on the disaggregated router.
What Can Be Monitored
- software module presence/status
- fault and syslog-derived notifications
- trap/event registration
- product identification via rtbrickProducts
