This read-only counter tallies the number of frames dropped from this queue because the queue was full. A climbing count directly indicates congestion on that priority level, prompting an admin to investigate whether the queue's capacity, scheduling weight, or upstream traffic shaping needs adjustment. For example, discards climbing steadily on the low-priority queue during business hours would indicate that queue is undersized for the sustained traffic it's absorbing.
