Description: Provides management objects for Codan satellite and HF radio communication equipment status and configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RBUC-MIB?

RBUC-MIB is a Codan enterprise SNMP MIB for the company's satellite and HF (high-frequency) radio communications equipment, such as block up-converters (BUCs) and RF transceiver units used in remote/rural connectivity and tactical communications gear. It exposes configuration and operational-status objects covering transmitter enable/attenuation settings, RF/IF/local-oscillator frequencies, serial-interface parameters, and general device mode/status/info fields. From a monitoring perspective it is used to confirm the RF chain is healthy and correctly configured -- checking transmitter on/off state, whether the unit is online, and current operating mode -- functioning as the equipment's basic operational-status reporting rather than exposing generic OS-level metrics like CPU or memory. As a small vendor enterprise MIB, it has no significant dependency on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMP SMI conventions. It is deployed in remote satellite/HF radio installations (e.g., rural telecom backhaul, maritime, or tactical/field communications) where NOC staff need remote visibility into RF equipment state without a site visit. Engineers can download the RBUC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBUC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codan satellite BUC/RF equipment
  • Codan HF radio transceiver

Monitoring Examples

A network operations engineer would poll onLine and txOn to confirm a remote Codan radio/BUC unit is powered up and actively transmitting, and check rfFreq, ifFreq, and loFreq to verify the unit is tuned to the correct frequency plan. If txAttenuator or mode has drifted from its configured value, it would indicate an unexpected local reconfiguration or fault affecting link power/quality. The status and info objects give a general health snapshot for remote sites where physical access is impractical.

What Can Be Monitored

  • transmitter on/off state
  • RF/IF/local-oscillator frequency settings
  • attenuator configuration
  • online status
  • serial interface configuration
